Small pine buds from needle callus and likely, tiny pinelets from callus in central and bottom regions of photo. Pinus muricata.  A definite pine plantlet with branches is located on the left side of the brown callus. Pine needle callus was cultured for a period on a medium with 0.1 mM methylglyoxal and 10 mg/L ascorbic acid.
